Why choose a Twistboxes roof box?

Twistboxes is the next generation of roof storage. Rolls up when not in use, fits easily in your home, and gives you the freedom to travel without sacrificing your living space. It is aerodynamically engineered to cut air resistance by 25.6 percent, improving fuel and energy efficiency while delivering a completely whistling-free drive.

En savoir plus

Tested to the same crash-test standard as child car seats, it sets a new benchmark for what a roof box can be.

Features that redefine what a roof box can be

Twistboxes is designed for real life. Side and full-top access let you pack from any angle without stretching or scratching your car. The foldable sides protect your vehicle when loading, and the lightweight 16.5 kg construction allows one-person handling with ease.

Because it rolls into a compact form, storage becomes effortless. No garage hooks. No ceiling lifts. No need for extra space. It is the only full-size roof box you can pick up as a parcel and carry home in its own compact packaging.

Everyday convenience meets adventure-ready performance

Twistboxes is built for both the everyday and the exceptional. School runs, IKEA trips, weekend escapes, surf gear, golf bags, camping equipment or a family ski holiday – one roof box adapts to all of it. Its compact storage size makes it ideal for city living and small cars, while its 520 liters of capacity matches the volume of traditional full-size roof boxes.

Finding the right roof box is simple when innovation does the work

Because Twistboxes fits all roof racks and all car types, you do not need to choose between models or sizes. One patented construction works across compact cars, sedans, estates and SUVs. Traditional roof boxes require storing a large plastic shell when not in use. Twistboxes eliminates that problem entirely – rolling into a form you can store in a closet, hallway or your car trunk.

A smarter standard for modern travel.

Yes, you can leave Twistboxes mounted on your roof rack when not in use and drive with it empty. However, we recommend removing it when not needed, since it reduces aerodynamic drag and extend the product’s lifespan.

Thanks to the quick mounting system, removing and reinstalling takes under two minutes.

Yes. Every Twistboxes roof box ships with a complete mounting kit including both T-bolt and U-clamp hardware, an adjustable shoulder strap, internal tie-down strap, and a step-by-step instruction manual.

Locks are sold separately.

Twistboxes is the only roof box ever tested to UNECE R129, the regulated crash-test standard for child car seats. It withstood 26.8 G of impact force at 50 km/h with full 75 kg load, independently verified by VTI (Sweden’s National Road and Transport Research Institute). No external damage, no deformation, fully functional after impact.
The stainless-steel base plate runs the full length of the box, securing both the box and its contents during hard braking and high-speed driving.

For reference; Most roof boxes are tested to the City Crash standard, an impact at 18 km/h. That's where the industry stops.

Yes! Use our combination padlocks (available and sold separately as a 2-pack) to lock the zippers on each side. One lock per side secures the box when parked. The locks thread through the reinforced eyelets and into the zipper pulls.

It is extremely difficult. The roof box is constructed with double-sided 900D Oxford fabric on both the inside and outside, a stainless-steel base plate underneath, and 8 & 5 mm rigid plastic reinforcement in the roof and side walls. This multi-layer construction makes it very resistant to cutting or forced entry. While no roof box is completely theft-proof. Twistboxes offers significantly more resistance than a single-wall plastic shell.

Certainly! The stainless-steel base plate and aluminium stabilizers keep the roof box rigid whether loaded or empty. No wobbling, flapping or noise at any speed.

The combination padlocks secure the zippers, preventing anyone from opening the box. To lock the entire box to your roof rack, you can use a standard cable lock threaded through the mounting hardware. This is the same approach used with traditional plastic roof boxes.

Twistboxes does not impose a speed limit on your vehicle. It has been driven at over 200 km/h on the German Autobahn with zero noise and zero stability issues, as confirmed by customer reviews.

Always follow the speed limits for your road and your roof rack manufacturer’s guidelines.

More than 10 pairs. Skis up to 2 metres fit fully inside the box. Longer skis can extend out the rear with the back zipper left open, secured using the internal tie-down strap.
You can carry other gear alongside the skis at the same time.

Maximum load capacity is 75 kg.

Yes. In independent CFD testing, Twistboxes produced 25.6% less aerodynamic drag than a leading plastic-shell box of equivalent volume, tested on a Volvo XC40 at 97 km/h. Less drag means less fuel burned for combustion engines and more range preserved for electric vehicles.

On smaller cars, the efficiency advantage is even greater.

No. The wing-shaped profile and fabric-over-steel construction eliminate the wind noise and whistling common with traditional plastic-shell boxes. Customers consistently report a completely silent ride, even at motorway speeds.

We do not currently recommend driving with Twistboxes folded flat, as the lid cannot be fully secured in the folded position. For now, always unfold the box fully and close all zippers before driving.

We are developing a dedicated cover that will allow safe, fully secured flat driving in the future!

Twistboxes is available in Star Night Black, a deep non-reflective black finish that resists scratches, dirt, and UV. Additional colors are not currently available.

Twistboxes is available in one size: approximately 520 litres. One patented construction fits all car types and all roof racks.

Generation 3 is the current production model with updated mounting hardware, improved internal stabilizers, and refined construction details. Gen 1 and Gen 2 are no longer manufactured or sold.

If you have questions about a specific generation, contact us at info@twistboxes.com

Believe it or not, no roof box on the market is 100% waterproof. Even traditional plastic-shell boxes can allow moisture in through lid seals, mounting points, and seam gaps, particularly at highway speeds in heavy rain.

Twistboxes uses 100% waterproof fabric, zippers, and components across the entire construction. In normal rain, your gear stays dry. In sustained heavy downpours, small amounts of moisture can penetrate through sewn seams, which is common for all fabric-based outdoor equipment and comparable to the seal limitations of plastic-shell boxes. We deliberately avoid chemical mould treatments to keep the product safe for long-term use and the environment.

For complete protection of electronics or delicate items, we recommend using a dry bag inside the box. For guaranteed 100% waterproof protection in any weather, our VACme-Tech Vacuum Travel Bags seal completely airtight and keep everything dry regardless of conditions.

Twistboxes is tested from −35 °C to +50 °C. It has been used in Swedish Arctic winters and Australian desert summers without issue. The zippers, fabric, and all metal components are designed to perform across this full range.

Yes! The fabric is rated UV50+ and tested under over 1,700 hours of concentrated UV exposure. It resists fading and material degradation over time. As with any outdoor product, prolonged continuous exposure to direct sunlight over months will cause gradual wear.

All metal components are tested for salt spray resistance, ensuring corrosion resistance in coastal, winter, and salted-road environments. The stainless-steel base plate and aluminium stabilizers are specifically chosen for long-term durability in high-salinity conditions.

Clean the box inside and out with lukewarm water and a mild soap. Use a soft cloth or sponge to avoid scratches. Rinse with clean water and allow to air dry completely before rolling up for storage.

Avoid machine washing, bleach, solvents, or hot-air drying.

Twistboxes can also be cleaned using a pressure washer, but avoid using strong direct water pressure on the seams or spraying too closely to the box.

Automatic car washes can be used as well, provided the wash facility has a program designed for roof boxes.

Hand washing is always recommended as the first option.

Make sure the box is completely dry, then roll it up using the buckle system and store it upright or on its side.

It's the first-ever roof box that fits in a wardrobe, hallway, or car boot at 81 × 30 cm.

Storing it dry prevents mould. If mould would appear, wipe it off with a damp cloth.
